The Apps Alliance supports legislation that will undermine the patent troll business model without harming legitimate patent enforcement. In 2014 the Alliance and our members testified several times in Congress, were included in dozens of newspaper, television, and radio features, and cited by Members of Congress as a basis for their support of patent reform legislation.
The Alliance established a nationwide network of law schools, law students, and lawyers to provide free legal services to app developers threatened by patent trolls.
The Apps Alliance and Intuit partnered to provide app developers open source code that enables them to implement short-form privacy notices - simple screens that clearly inform consumers what data the app is collecting and with whom the data is shared.
The Alliance hosted a Google Hangout with FTC Commissioner Maureen Olhausen and ten Alliance members to discuss patent trolls, privacy laws, sharing economy competition, and the FTC's role in promoting app industry innovation.
Our team is eager for 2015 to be our best year yet. Help us get there. Let us know what you think.
